This programme has been designed specifically for existing and aspiring senior leaders in education. The design and delivery team include leadership development professionals with broad experience of working in or with primary, secondary, and higher education. The programme is highly interactive and discursive allowing attendees the time and opportunity to undertake an in-depth exploration of the role of educational leader. Individual learning and development journeys are scaffolded by a series of sector relevant leadership models, frameworks, case studies and research and the application of a person-centred coaching approach.

Throughout the programme our facilitators will support participants to consider how their learning can deliver tangible positive outcomes on their return to the workplace. To support this innovative and pragmatic approach participants attend three 2.5-hour action learning / group coaching sessions which will be scheduled over an, approximately, 6-month period after the conclusion of the taught phase.

Self as Leader

The programme commences on day 1 with an exploration of ‘self as leader’, where we will consider and explore:

  • the challenges being faced by educational leaders
  • how leaders in education can build their authenticity and personal brand  
  • a range of leadership models and approaches for educational leaders
  • personal and professional strengths and how these can be leveraged to build success
  • resilient leadership

Leading Teams in Education

Day 2 of the programme explores ‘leading teams in education’, we will investigate and discuss:

  • the relationship between leadership and organisational culture
  • the complexity of leading and aligning team and school cultures in academy trusts
  • culture, leadership, and the attraction and retention of talent in educational environments
  • the leader’s role in developing high-performing teams
  • developing wellbeing and resilience in the teams we lead

Leading the Organisation

Day 3 of the programme focuses on ‘leading the organisation’, where we will examine and analyse:

  • the strategic organisational context in which educational leadership takes place
  • the challenges and opportunities of operating in VUCA environments
  • the role of organisational design and development as an integral part of the educational leader’s toolkit
  • leading in complex organisational systems
  • leading strategic change

Day 4 - 3 x 2.5 Hour Sessions

Participants will come together for three facilitated action learning / group coaching sessions once the taught element of the programme concludes.

The first session will take place approximately 4-6 weeks after the taught phase with subsequent sessions scheduled at (approximately) 6-week intervals.

Led by an experienced action-learning facilitator / group coach the sessions will allow participants to further explore and problem solve their operating environment, co-create solutions with their learning cohort, take a deep-dive into their own leadership philosophy and embed the learning with positive intent in their organisational setting

Accreditation

Upon completion of this course, you will be required to complete 2 assignments to secure the CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice. The Chartered Management Institute Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership gives you a broader knowledge of effective management skills while focusing on the specific management areas appropriate to you and your workplace.

Accreditation Support

Participants will also receive two post-programme strategic leadership coaching sessions to embed their learning into professional practice and support their personal and professional development. 

The programme is mapped to a CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership. Individuals wishing to obtain the qualification can speak to one of our team about the process for achieving this.
