Course Overview
This qualification is designed to enable leaders to develop an in-depth understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) at a strategic level. Leaders will have the opportunity to critically assess structural inequality within both organisational and societal contexts. They will discuss approaches to comply with legal and good practice requirements and appraise the influence of EDI on strategic objectives. The unit culminates in leaders being given the opportunity to develop strategic priorities for EDI. Roles and responsibilities may also include, but are not limited to, taking responsibility for people, projects, operations, and/or services to deliver organisational success. Leaders will have the professionalism to deliver impact, behave ethically, and demonstrate a commitment to continual learning and development.
This Level 7 leadership development programme is delivered by facilitators with a wealth of strategic-level organisational experience, including involvement with developing EDI agendas.
Accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), this AWARD is an 8-credit programme delivered across three consecutive days.

Learners engaging with the programme will:

Explore what the terms equality, diversity, and inclusion mean in their own organisational context.

Examine structural inequality in both organisational and societal contexts.

Consider the evolution of understanding of the EDI agenda and its transformation to equity, belonging, and enrichment.

Share their own examples of good practice and success stories.

Investigate the complexity of organisational ecosystems and their impact on delivering the EDI agenda.

Develop actions to overcome key challenges and barriers to delivering EDI.

Analyse the relationship between organisational culture and successful delivery of EDI outcomes.

Consider the role of the 2010 Act and other legislative or regulatory frameworks in progressing EDI outcomes.

Critically review research, models, frameworks, and case studies related to the delivery of EDI outcomes.

Investigate bias and its impact on delivering EDI outcomes in the organisational context.

Analyse the complexity of the leader’s role in creating a culture that empowers EDI.
Accreditation:
To achieve the CMI Level 7 Award, learners must complete the one assignment outlined below.

Assessment Method:

Learners will critically assess inequality within organisations and society.

They will discuss legislative frameworks, appraise the relationship between EDI and organisational strategy, and present a business case for best practice in EDI.

Learners will select and analyse appropriate organisational data before developing strategic EDI priorities and a supporting strategic plan.

Propose a business case for EDI and develop a strategy for embedding EDI in their own organisation.
Accreditation Support:
Participants undertaking the CMI qualification will be supported throughout their learning journey by regular tutorial sessions, supporting resources, and comprehensive formative and summative assessment and feedback processes.
