ILM Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching and Mentoring (Healthcare)

Course Overview

The ILM Level 7 Coaching and Mentoring programme, accredited by the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM), is aimed at senior leaders who wish to deepen their coaching and mentoring skills. Delivered over two modules, each lasting three days, the course is led by experienced senior leaders and executive coaches. It incorporates real-world case studies to provide practical insights and help participants apply coaching in both leadership and organisational contexts.

Before starting the programme, delegates are required to read a pre-course workbook and complete a series of short reflective exercises. This preparation is expected to take approximately two hours.

Following the completion of the taught modules, participants will continue to receive support through regular tutorials and coaching supervision sessions, helping them further develop their skills and consolidate their learning.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Raise awareness of the organisational and strategic purposes of coaching and mentoring.
  • Explore the knowledge, skills, behaviours, and practices necessary for coaching and mentoring at senior and executive levels.
  • Understand the intricacies of delivering coaching and mentoring interventions in complex organisations and at senior levels.
  • Consider how to build an effective organisational coaching and mentoring culture.
  • Gain insight into the psychology that underpins the taught theories, models, and concepts.
  • Consider ethical practice when operating as a coach or mentor.
  • Develop their professional practice by carrying out regular coaching and mentoring throughout the taught modules, followed by onward observed and supervised coaching and mentoring practice.
  • Plan, deliver, and review their own coaching and mentoring interventions.
  • Be able to identify and design onward professional development activities as a coach or mentor operating at a senior or executive level.
