AXREM is honoured to be have been recognised in the Transformation Impact Award – Sustainability & CSR by winning Bronze Award for the work done by our Sustainability Special Focus Group at the Association Excellence Awards 2024 in London last week.

AXREM stands united in the face of the climate emergency, supporting the NHS in its crucial mission to achieve net zero emissions by 2045. Pioneers in the MedTech sector, AXREM established the Sustainability Special Focus Group, a unique platform for our members to engage and collaborate with the NHS England Sustainability Team and NHS Supply Chain. By working in collaboration we aim to tackle the pressing challenges in achieving the NHS net zero target, positioning our members as thought leaders in this critical agenda.

This recognition will mean a lot to our members and is recognition of the fantastic work we are collaborative doing in this space working closely with a groundbreaking blend of AXREM members and Representatives from NHS England, NHS Scotland, NHS Supply Chain, The Department of Health and Social Care, the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine and the Royal College of Radiologists. This inclusive approach has propelled AXREM to the forefront of sustainability leadership, enabling us to influence prudent decision-making.

Sally Edgington, AXREM CEO said upon the Award being announced “I am so proud to lead such a hardworking team who really care about the service that we deliver to our members, and I feel incredible privileged and lucky to have the best members! they go above and beyond and engage with AXREM to a level most associations would dream of. The award was also special having won this on World Radiography Day, the event was an opportunity to celebrate all the work done by AXREM and all the other trade associations that work tirelessly for their members and to represent their industries”.

Chris Taylor, AXREM Sustainability Special Focus Group Convenor & Sustainability Lead UKI at Philips Health Systems said “We are honoured to receive a Bronze placing for The Transformational Impact Award at the Association Excellence Awards 2024 at the QEII on Friday. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire AXREM Sustainability Special Focus Group and its unique mix of AXREM Members and key stakeholders in the Healthcare Industry in the UK. We are committed to driving impactful change and will continue our journey towards a more sustainable future, supporting the NHS Net zero ambition.

I would also like to acknowledge the commitment by Philips and Mark Leftwich (Managing Director) who have recognised how vital the part of sustainability plays in healthcare, and so has allocating a permanent role for myself in this area. This allows me to commit the time needed for the vital work we do at AXREM. Climate change is an urgent crisis, placing immense strain on the healthcare Industry. Now is the time for action. Together we can enable a better future for everyone. No one wins unless we all win! Thank you for this incredible honour”.

Note:

AXREM’s member companies supply most of the diagnostic medical imaging and radiotherapy equipment installed in UK hospitals. They work with Consultant Radiologists, Radiographers and Practitioners, Oncologists, and a wide range of healthcare professionals in delivering healthcare to patients using our technologies.

Our members have unique knowledge, experience and insight into the workflow and challenges faced by healthcare professionals on a day-to-day basis, which enables us to develop and offer innovative solutions to improve the speed and quality of diagnostic procedures and treatments with our aim of improving patient care.

Although our members operate in a highly competitive commercial environment and in strict conformity with UK laws and regulations, certain issues such as this require focus and resolution on an industry-wide basis.
