Course Overview

Accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management this Level 5 programme in ‘Effective Coaching and Mentoring’ delivered across two 2-day modules taking place approximately 6-8 weeks apart. Learners receive regular tutorial and supervision support beyond the end of the taught phase of the programme to ensure their professional practice develops and grows effectively throughout the duration of the programme.

Our Level 5 Coaching and Mentoring programme has been delivered extensively across a range of organisations and sectors including healthcare.

The programme will benefit healthcare organisations seeking to embed coaching and mentoring practice into their infrastructure. Whether the agenda is to develop specialist internal coaches or equip leaders with a more coaching or mentoring style or build internal coaching and mentoring schemes this programme will provide tangible results.

Research into the introduction of coaching and mentoring programmes in organisations have shown that over 85% of companies consider they recouped their investment, with reporting ROI of between 300 and 700%.

The Level 5 Certificate is a 16-credit qualification. Learners have 24 months from their date of initial attendance on the taught phase of the programme to complete the assignments and attain the qualification.

Learning Objectives

Learners engaging with the programme will:

  • Explore the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by effective coaches and mentors.
  • Consider and evaluate several coaching and mentoring models that can be used in their own operating context.
  • Develop a comprehensive toolkit for delivering effective coaching and mentoring interventions.
  • Gain awareness and insight into the underpinning psychology of effective coaching and mentoring practice.
  • Understand the ‘business case’ for coaching and mentoring in an organisational context.
  • Gain understanding of ethical practice in coaching and mentoring including the importance of contracting, supervision and boundary management.
  • Develop personal confidence and skill as a coach or mentor through regular practice, supervision, and de-briefing.
  • Development of self as a reflective practitioner to continuously improve coaching and mentoring practice.
