Attracting and retaining talent in the healthcare sector - how can we do it better?
It is widely recognised that the shortage of qualified workers within the healthcare sector has reached crisis point. Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, the healthcare industry was experiencing unprecedented levels of labour shortages that couldn’t cope with high patient volumes.
As our world navigates the arduous road towards a new normal, another challenge has arisen. Macro economic factors, beyond our control, are driving the cost of living skywards. The impact on the healthcare sector is profound as care home personnel, HCA's and nursing staff leave the profession in search of a better balance and higher pay. Our medics seek job satisfaction elsewhere, driven away by unmanageable workloads and by underinvestment in equipment and infrastructure.
There's no easy fix, and the exodus of talent is hampering this vital sector's ability to get back on track. In confronting this challenge we seek to develop a systematic and empathetic approach - a key to this is modernisation, and technology.
