NHS Estates and Facilities Conference: Supporting New Models of Delivery
Following the 2017 Naylor Report into NHS Estates, it has been estimated that estate upkeep costs have reached approximately £10bn in annual funding for 2019/2020.
The latest data from the King’s Fund shows, in 2018/19, the total cost of tackling the maintenance backlog in NHS trusts rose by 8.4 per cent to £6.5 billion and is still on the rise as we enter 2021. Of this over half, £3.4 billion, was for issues that present a high or significant risk to patients and staff.
Financial pressures and growing demand mean that health and social care services will need to work differently. Technology and the estate are key enablers for delivering change
