The Next Generation of NHS Care: Healthcare Digital Technology Virtual Conference

We are entering a new era of medical care and treatment. NHS CEO Simon Stevens recently announced, “the health service is to fast-track the introduction of new ‘game-changing’ cancer drugs that target tumour-causing genetic flaws” heralding a step-change advance in personalised care.

New technologies such as AI-led diagnosis is a sign that digital advances are changing the face of healthcare in the UK at an unprecedented rate.

The Next Generation of NHS Care: Healthcare Digital Technology Congress will highlight and showcase the best use of digital tools and technology from across the NHS Estate, we will also hear from some key IT leaders and discuss the current infrastructure in place and the upgrades needed to support the surge in digital technology.

Key topics include:

  • IT Infrastructure
  • Digital tools
  • AI-enabled medical devices
  • Trust-wide system transformation
  • Digital Leadership
  • + much more.

By harnessing these new technologies, healthcare providers can improve patient health outcomes, be cost-effective, and provide faster care. Patients will also be able to manage and control their own health and medical information. This shows that technology can help ensure a brighter, healthier future for everyone.

Our upcoming event will provide a front-row seat for anyone interested in how the NHS is Implementing technology across the board and the impact this is having on both patient's and NHS staff lives.

Development of the Greater Manchester (GM) Care Record to support the city-regions response to COVID-19.

Dr Paula Bennett
Associate Director of Clinical Development
Health Innovation Manchester
The GM Care Record brings together patient information from the region’s health and social care providers and makes it easily accessible in one place, giving health and care workers the vital information they need to inform direct care and to improve operational performance. It went live region-wide in May, following an accelerated deployment and the introduction of new functions to support COVID-19 care and treatment. In addition, the information held in the GM Care Record, powered by Graphnet, is being used to understand the evolving health and care needs of the local population as the country emerges from each phase of the pandemic. Using anonymised data from the GM Care Record, care commissioners are gaining a greater understanding of COVID-19 and its trends, to identify associated risks to the public such as: understanding information about patient access to services monitoring and managing the response by health and care services delivering enhanced care and treatment to patients clinical trials, research and planning This data insight is driving the planning and delivery of services for 2.8m citizens across the city-region.

Bridging the digital divide – creating an inclusive NHS

Amy McClure
Workplace Accessibility Specialist
Texthelp
NHS organisations, their staff and the communities they serve have faced a very difficult time during COVID-19. In some cases the NHS have had to stand down services or alter the way patients access their services (with more essential services and information being provided online). Alongside supporting patients, NHS staff have been under increasing pressure. This is a time when the commitments set out in the NHS’s Long Term Plan to upgrade technologies and to digitally enable care across the NHS have become more important than ever. However, it’s critical we remember that not everyone has the same access and ability to use digital assets and tools, so mechanisms need to be put in place whereby there is equity of access to information and services – to meet the digital and health literacy needs of the most vulnerable users (and avoid widening the health divide). At a time when digital inclusion has never been more front of mind, this session with Texthelp will identify and discuss challenges, good practice and solutions to bridging the digital divide.
