The Outpatient Transformation Conference South 2023

The Convenzis Outpatient Transformation Conference provides secondary care leaders with some direction and insight into the NHS Outpatient Transformation Programme. The event will provide high value, policy led presentations from sector-leading experts, meet the supplier sessions, networking opportunities and interactive Q&A.

“Outpatient services currently cause a good deal of inconvenience to patients and sometimes fail to provide care that is as good as it could be. We would therefore welcome a considered re-think of how they are delivered…” The Patients Association

The Covid-19 outbreak has provided a springboard for innovation and technology advancements across the NHS Estate, from electronic records and referrals to devices that patients can wear to help to track their health. Technology is helping transform the way hospitals and community services care for patients.

The number of outpatient visits in England has doubled to 94 million in the past decade; 20 per cent of potential appointments are cancelled or reported as did not attend, costs have spiralled to £8 billion per year and appointments generate 4,700 million kg of carbon emissions.

Following the Covid outbreak, the NHS Long Term Plan ambition to avoid unnecessary face to face outpatient attendances has become an urgent imperative, these targets include:

Removing the need for up to a third of hospital outpatient attendances a year by 2023/24

Avoiding up to £1.1bn of additional expenditure.

And ensuring all patients can access digital outpatient care.

If you are interested in the redesign and restructure of NHS Outpatient services and would like a complimentary pass, please get in touch today to reserve your place.

My Healthcare+ Implementing elective functionality on the NHS APP

Mr Daniel de Rozarieux
Director of Elective Care
NHS Sussex

Sussex has been identified as one of three systems nationally to implement and evaluate My Health and Care+ (MHC+) and has received £1.3m in national funding to support implementation of the pilot. The experience in Sussex will then inform decisions around national implementation. The Sussex implementation process is expected to run from September 2023 to March 2024. My Health and Care+ (e-Meet and Greet) is a new initiative to deliver a model of digitally enabled pathway optimisation via the NHS APP. The key aim of the initiative is to ensure patients are effectively communicated and engaged with throughout their elective pathway, for example; receiving appointment confirmation following referral.

Video consultations: 1. Why should we; 2. What not to do (Confirmed)

Mr Sunil Jain

Despite the well established benefits, there is lesser interest in incorporating video consultations in outpatient service in the secondary care at the present time. I would like to highlight why this should be put back high on the agenda, and realise maximum benefit from the initiative.
