AXREM's Million Steps Challenge Raises Over £9,500 for Dementia UK and Sees Participants Walk More Than 1.4 Million Steps
01 October, 2026

AXREM, the UK trade association representing suppliers of diagnostic medical imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT and care equipment, is delighted to announce the successful completion of its annual Million Steps Challenge, with more than 100 participants from across the AXREM membership collectively walking an incredible 1.4 million steps in one day to support the association's Charity of the Year, Dementia UK.
Now in its second year, the challenge has continued to grow in both participation and impact, bringing together colleagues from member organisations across the UK in a friendly competition that promotes health, wellbeing and charitable fundraising.
The challenge crowned Daryl Challenger from British Medical Auctions (BMA) as the winning individual participant, while Philips Healthcare UK was recognised as the winning team after an outstanding collective effort throughout the campaign.
Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of participants, sponsors and supporters, the initiative has now raised more than £9,500 for Dementia UK, helping to support the charity's vital work for people living with dementia and their families.
A particular highlight of this year's challenge was the AXREM Community Walk held in the picturesque setting of Matlock Bath, which brought together AXREM members, partners and stakeholders for a scenic walk through the Derbyshire countryside. The event provided a valuable opportunity for participants to connect outside of the workplace, combining physical activity with informal networking and culminating in a networking lunch. The Community Walk perfectly reflected the spirit of the Million Steps Challenge, promoting wellbeing, collaboration and stronger relationships across the medical technology community while supporting an important charitable cause.
Sally Edgington, CEO of AXREM, said: "We are incredibly proud of the success of this year's Million Steps Challenge. Seeing more people from across our membership come together to collectively achieve our goal, demonstrates the fantastic commitment of our industry, not only to supporting a worthy cause but also to promoting health and wellbeing within our organisations.
Congratulations to Daryl Challenger for winning the individual challenge and to Philips Healthcare UK for taking the team title. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who participated, donated and supported the initiative. Together, we are getting close to our £10,000 target for Dementia UK, and that is something everyone involved should be extremely proud of."
The Million Steps Challenge has become an important part of AXREM's annual activities, encouraging colleagues from across the medical technology sector to stay active, engage with peers and contribute to a meaningful cause, while enjoying some healthy and friendly competition along the way.
AXREM would like to extend its sincere thanks to all members who took part in this year's challenge and to everyone who donated and supported the fundraising efforts.
