NHS Innovation Accelerator

The NHS Innovation Accelerator (NIA) is an award-winning NHS England initiative delivered in partnership with England’s 15 Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs) and hosted at UCLPartners. The aim of the NIA is to support the delivery of the commitments set out in the NHS Long Term Plan – creating the conditions and cultural change necessary for proven innovations to be taken up faster and more systematically through the NHS for patient, population and staff benefit. Launched in July 2015, the NIA has supported 49 Fellows representing 52 innovations to date. Over 2,000 additional NHS sites are now using NIA innovations, £84.3M external funding has been raised, 392 new jobs created, 92 awards won, and 29 NIA innovations are selling internationally.
