LWWP is a not for profit company founded in 2018 to enable health practitioners and people with chronic pain become confident to support personal self-care approaches. The co-founders are Dr Emma Davies and Dr Frances Cole and since 2020 has had the support of Prof. Paul Chazot, University of Durham Wolfson Research Institute for Health and Wellbeing. Live Well with Pain offers free and accessible user friendly web-based resources www.livewellwithpain.co.uk with various training programmes including Ten Footsteps programme. These contribute to skilling the NHS workforce and health care sector in various pain self-management programmes approaches and services. The LWWP team of practitioners and lived experience trainers key focus is self-care and less reliance on medicines especially opioids with focus on improving health outcomes. It shares innovative service developments from NHS and other health care services and resources and pioneers ethical, trusted approaches to the huge health issue of persistent pain. Currently over 100 community chronic pain services exist now across UK from actions with LWWP and we have won two health innovation awards for work to date (AHSN and FUSE).
