NHS and Care Volunteer Responders (NHSCVR) is a large-scale, NHS-approved volunteering programme supporting the NHS and healthcare teams across England.
Healthcare teams have access to more than 40,000 volunteers who offer a variety of services, including:
- Telephone calls to people in need of a friendly voice and a listening ear
- Help with essential shopping and prescription delivery
- Delivery of medication and equipment between NHS sites and to and from patients' homes
- Supporting people to enjoy social activities and hobbies both at home and in the community
- Stewarding support at vaccination sites and Ambulance Support, providing refreshments for crews handing over patients at A&E bays
