David Kernick has been a general practitioner in Exeter for 35 years having started off life as a chemical engineer. He was lead research GP at St Thomas’s Medical Group, where his interests were health economics, complexity theory and more recently headache. He was the RCGP headache champion, a previous NICE Fellow and has sat on a number of NICE guideline groups including headache. He sits on the council of the British Association for the Study of Headache and chairs the GPwSI group. He teaches a study unit at the Exeter Medical School – “From the science of medicine to the art of healing.
