Dr. Dimitris Kalogeropoulos

Dr. Dimitrios Kalogeropoulos is an independent Global Health Digital Innovation adviser, international development expert and industry leader working to achieve health equity and better health outcomes for vulnerable populations and communities around the world through sustainable digital innovation. Dimitris has a PhD in systems science and artificial intelligence in medicine and a track record of twenty years in international development, working alongside major multilateral and bilateral development partners and philanthropies, as an independent advisor, including the World Bank’s health, nutrition and population global practice, the World Health Organization, as well as WHO’s Digital Health and Innovation Department, the European Commission, and the Digital Health Centre of Excellence, the multi-agency consortium co-led by UNICEF and the WHO.

Dimitris has had an instrumental role in developing collaborative data innovation ecosystems for sustainable digital innovation, and to this end in developing standards, regulation, and policy around the world, from East and Central Asia to Central America, but also in enabling resilience and recovery during the Covid-19 global health emergency. Further through his participation in national policy think-tanks and working groups on AI, Dimitris contributed to the EU AI Act and the establishment of digital innovation hubs. His policy contribution landmark achievement has been the China Joint Study Partnership for Deepening Health Reforms in China, now implemented as Healthy China 2030.

Dimitris is the founder and Chair of the IEEE Standards Association Collaborative Data Innovation Ecosystem for sustainable global health innovation through standards development, established under the Healthcare and Life Sciences global practice and the Transforming the Telehealth Paradigm industry connections program, founding officer and chapter organizer of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Greece Chapter, of which he also served as Chair, adviser in the IEEE SA HLS TTPP, and member of the IEEE Global Initiative on Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems. Dimitris is ex-IBM, CEO and Board Director in management consultancy for over a decade and has served on the board of advisors of start-ups in Europe and the US, is judge and mentor in the Edison™ Accelerator collaborative innovation ecosystem powered by GE Healthcare and Wayra UK, focusing on the UK market and the NHS, and Health Executive in Residence at the UCL Global Business School for Health.
