Professor of Radiology

Professor Hamzaini Abdul Hamid is a Professor of Radiology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and currently serves as a Senior Consultant Radiologist at the Faculty of Medicine, UKM. He obtained his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1995, followed by a Master of Medicine (Radiology) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2004.
With a longstanding passion for paediatrics that began during his undergraduate years, Professor Hamzaini pursued further subspecialty training through a Fellowship in Paediatric Imaging at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Toronto, Canada, from 2009 to 2010. Upon returning to Malaysia, he has been actively involved in advancing paediatric imaging services, with a particular focus on sclerotherapy for slow-flow vascular malformations. His clinical work is primarily based at the UKM Specialist Children’s Hospital.
He is frequently invited to speak on paediatric imaging and interventional radiology for vascular malformations at both national and regional levels across Southeast Asia.
In addition to his clinical and academic contributions, he currently serves as the Secretary General of the Asian Oceanic Society for Paediatric Radiology (since 2022). He has also recently been appointed as the Director for UKM Specialist Children’s Hospital (Hospital TABTAR).
