Karen Jarvis is Trust Lead Advanced Practitioner at Hull University Teaching hospitals, a position she has held for two years. Having qualified as a nurse in 2000, Karen has spent time working in Cardiothoracic surgery as a staff nurse, ward sister, Nurse practitioner and Advanced Clinical Practitioner before moving into the Trust lead position.
Karen works clinically as an ACP in Cardiothoracic Surgery within the East Yorkshire Cardiothoracic Unit and manages a team of 38 Advanced Clinical Practitioners in a number of surgical, medical and paediatric settings throughout the organisation. Karen is also the lead practitioner for Physician Associates and is the Non-Medical Prescribing Lead for Nursing/Midwifery and ACP’s in the Trust.
Karen is an active member of the Humber Coast and Vale Faculty for Advanced practice and has supported a neighbouring Trust in the development of their Advanced Clinical Practitioner programme and regularly participates in regional initiatives to promote the development of advanced level practice roles.
