Professor Catchpole is a human factors research practitioner who has spent the last eighteen years studying the influence of task, team and technology on safety and performance in acute care. His work has been primarily conducted in the UK and USA, exploring trauma, cardiac, orthopaedic, vascular, gastro-intestinal, spinal, and urological surgery. He has also contributed to healthcare research and improvement at hospitals in the Netherlands, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Dubai and Sao Paulo. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, and his work on surgical innovation and technology integration has reached over 20 million people through speaking engagements and media coverage.
