Laura qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2011 with a BSc Hons Occupational Therapy, graduating from Sheffield Hallam University. Having started off her career in orthopaedics and spinal injuries services, Laura developed a strong interest in rehabilitation and found her passion working in mental health services. She has over eight years’ experience working in forensic mental health, with her current role as the lead occupational therapist in Northern Ireland’s regional medium secure unit, Shannon clinic. Laura is currently leading on the establishment of a regional subgroup for occupational therapists working in forensic mental health and intellectual disability across Northern Ireland. She is enthusiastic for service improvement initiatives and enabling those she works with to recognise their full potential.
