A national expert in gambling related harm. Clinical lead for the NHS Northern Gambling Service, with regional clinics in Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, Manchester, and Blackpool-Preston. Matthew has twenty-five years’ experience in addictions treatment and is a Topic Advisor for the NICE Guidelines on Gambling-Related Harm. He is a visiting lecturer at the University of Leeds, Sheffield, Hull, Newcastle, and Teesside at Doctorate level and provides evidence and advice to government and parliamentarians on gambling harm. Matthew provides psychological reports to the Courts in cases of gambling-related crime. His research interests are; the nature of addiction, treatment, policy, & commercial influences on behaviour.
