Sivakumar Manickam

Dr Sivakumar Manickam is Lead Paediatric Radiologist across Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust and Radiology Governance Lead at Basildon University Hospital. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at King’s College London.

He is a Portfolio Pathway Champion and a member of the iRefer Paediatric Radiology Expert Panel for the Royal College of Radiologists, as well as an AI Ambassador with Responsible AI UK. He mentors medical students in the King’s College London and Guy’s and St Thomas’ London radiology community and is faculty at BRJC UK. His interests encompass general and paediatric radiology, advanced imaging, research and technological innovation.

An international speaker, Dr Manickam is developing research and innovation links with colleagues in India at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and Yashoda Hospitals, a quaternary care hospital group in Hyderabad. He is also exploring opportunities for collaboration with Google in India. Alongside senior technology specialists at a leading European imaging company, he is evaluating the potential of advanced visualisation to support clinical interpretation and multidisciplinary decision making.

He has contributed scientific papers to indexed journals, including a recent article in Paediatric Radiology examining the reproducibility and validity of deduplication tools used in systematic reviews.

His overarching aim is to raise awareness of AI in medicine, Imaging in particular and support its responsible integration into clinical practice. Central to this ambition are rigorous evaluation, due diligence, robust clinical governance and regulatory compliance, ensuring that innovation delivers meaningful benefits for patients.
