NHS imaging services are facing one of the most demanding periods in their history. Demand for CT, MRI, ultrasound, X ray and specialist imaging continues to rise, while radiology teams are managing reporting pressure, workforce shortages, equipment capacity, backlogs, growing CDC activity and increasing expectations around faster diagnosis.

RadVision 2026 Midlands will provide a focused skills and knowledge exchange for NHS imaging, radiology, diagnostics, operational and digital leaders. The event will explore how imaging services can respond to immediate capacity pressure while building safer, smarter and more connected models of diagnostic delivery.

This is not a nice to have event. It is a timely and practical meeting for teams responsible for reducing diagnostic delays, improving workflow, adopting AI safely, supporting CDC expansion, strengthening imaging networks and creating future ready radiology services.

Current Landscape and Challenges

Radiology is central to NHS recovery, cancer diagnosis, emergency care, elective pathways and community diagnostic delivery. Yet imaging services remain under significant pressure.

Rising demand, workforce gaps, reporting delays, equipment constraints and uneven digital maturity are creating real operational challenges for imaging departments and diagnostic networks. At the same time, the NHS is looking to imaging services to

support earlier diagnosis, care closer to home, faster decision making and better use of digital technology.

The pressure is no longer just about scanning more patients. It is about redesigning the whole imaging pathway, from referral and booking through to acquisition, reporting, sharing, clinical decision making and follow up.

Key challenges include:

  • Growing demand across CT, MRI, ultrasound, plain film and specialist imaging.
  • Radiology workforce shortages and increasing reliance on additional reporting capacity.
  • Pressure to reduce diagnostic waits and improve cancer and elective pathway performance.
  • Community Diagnostic Centre growth and the need to connect activity with wider pathways.
  • Safe, governed and measurable adoption of AI and automation.
  • Imaging network development, shared reporting and cross site collaboration.
  • RIS, PACS, VNA, cloud and image sharing requirements.
  • Improving data visibility, productivity and demand and capacity planning.
  • Cybersecurity, interoperability and resilience across imaging infrastructure.

Event Format: Skills and Knowledge Exchange

RadVision 2026 Midlands will follow Convenzis’ skills and knowledge exchange model, creating a practical forum for NHS imaging leaders to share experience, learn from peers and explore solutions to current service pressures.

The programme will combine NHS case studies, expert led insight, panel discussion, supplier innovation and focused knowledge sharing. The aim is to support practical learning that can be taken back into imaging departments, networks and transformation programmes.

Delegates will be encouraged to explore key delivery questions, including:

  • How can imaging services improve capacity without increasing pressure on already stretched teams?
  • Where can AI and automation make a safe and measurable difference?
  • How can CDCs become fully connected parts of the diagnostic pathway?
  • What does good imaging network collaboration look like in practice?
  • How can radiology leaders improve reporting workflows, data visibility and operational planning?
  • What infrastructure is needed to support modern, secure and scalable imaging services?

Key Themes and Topics

  • Radiology workforce pressures and sustainable capacity planning.
  • AI, automation and clinical decision support in imaging.
  • Reporting workflow, prioritisation and backlog reduction.
  • Community Diagnostic Centres and care closer to home.
  • Imaging networks, shared reporting and regional collaboration.
  • RIS, PACS, VNA, cloud imaging and interoperability.
  • Teleradiology, insourcing, outsourcing and blended reporting models.
  • Data, analytics and demand and capacity dashboards.
  • Cancer, elective and urgent diagnostic pathway improvement.
  • Cybersecurity, infrastructure and resilience in imaging services.
  • Patient access, experience and communication across diagnostic pathways.

Why Attend

Delegates will leave with practical insight into how imaging services can respond to today’s operational pressures while preparing for the next phase of NHS diagnostic transformation.

Who Should Attend

This event is designed for senior NHS leaders and teams involved in imaging strategy, radiology operations, diagnostics and digital transformation, including:

  • Clinical Directors of Radiology.
  • Radiology Service Managers and Imaging Leads.
  • Consultant Radiologists and Reporting Leads.
  • Chief Radiographers and Modality Leads.
  • Diagnostics, Cancer and Elective Recovery Leads.
  • CDC Programme Leads and Operational Managers.
  • Digital Imaging, PACS, RIS and Informatics Leads.
  • ICS, ICB and NHS Trust diagnostics leaders.
  • Transformation, improvement and programme teams.
  • Procurement, commercial and innovation teams supporting imaging transformation.

Relevance for Sponsors and Partners

This conference provides a highly targeted platform for imaging technology providers, radiology innovators and partners supporting the transformation of NHS imaging services.

Sponsors will be well positioned to demonstrate how their solutions enable:

  • AI, automation and decision support tools that improve reporting capacity, prioritisation and diagnostic workflow.
  • RIS, PACS, VNA and image sharing platforms that support connected imaging networks and more efficient clinical collaboration.
  • Cloud, infrastructure and data storage solutions that help radiology services manage growing image volumes and system demand.
  • Teleradiology, reporting workflow and workforce support solutions that help address capacity pressures and reporting backlogs.
  • Community Diagnostic Centre and imaging pathway technologies that support earlier diagnosis and improved patient access.
  • Analytics, operational dashboards and performance tools that give imaging leaders better visibility of demand, capacity and productivity.
