The NHS Radiology Conference 2022

Medical Imaging is fundamental in the delivery of modern medicine and is an essential part of many NHS treatments being delivered today. Clinical Radiologists use medical imaging techniques to investigate, diagnose, and monitor diseases and injuries while interventional radiologists use imaging-guided techniques to carry out minimally invasive surgery that have positive outcomes for patient experience, discharge time and reducing fatalities.
NHS England and Improvement recently set out initial plans to develop and implement collaborative imaging networks. The benefits of imaging networks are vast and include:

- Reduced risk of missed diagnosis.

- Improved access to the most innovative imaging equipment.

The Royal College of Radiologists recently published the Policy Priorities for Clinical Radiology 2021-2026 report, the report identified 3 key areas of scale-up needed to ensure the highest standard of patient treatment is delivered, these areas include:
- Maximising the radiology workforce.
- Providing the adequate tools to enhance patient care.
- And supporting new models of delivery.
