Director of Innovative Programmes and Partnerships

Alan is the Director of Innovation Programmes and Partnerships within the newly established Innovation, Transformation & Digital Directorate.
Alans responsibility at Health Education England is to establish and build collaborative partnerships and explore the spread of new workforce programs between system partners (at national, regional and local level) and Health Education England. His areas of interest & responsibility span the directorate including workforce transformation, digital readiness, XR/VR/immersive learning, patient safety, genomics and AI & robotics.
Prior to joining Heath Education England, Alan was the Director of Digital Health for the Innovation Agency (NWC AHSN) / ex-Deputy-Chair of the Digital & AI INN (the AHSN Network); he led on strategic digital themes across the AHSN Network, sat on his two respective ICS/STP digital boards and was a member of steering groups for high profile pieces of work including the NHS Empower the Person, NICE DHT Evidence Standard Framework and the HEE led Topol review.
Alan also works and is a regular technology assessor / judge for the NIHR/NHSx/AAC AI Lab (Ph 3 and Ph 4), TSA, HSJ and EPSRC bodies.
Alan’s preceding roles to joining the Innovation Agency include strategic exec directorship roles in the multinational MedTech / assistive technology industry (Philips & Tunstall Healthcare) and prior to that had a long career in multinational management consultancy (Partner PA Consulting, PwC and Gemini Consulting).
