A data expert with a wealth of experience in commercial and research environments, Andy brings a fresh approach to the use of data within the NHS. He uses data to deliver insight and to tell a clinically relevant “story.”
Andy works with the ML clinical team to improve patient and population outcomes, services and processes. He has produced analyses and developed innovative tools in areas including monitoring pressure in Emergency Departments, predicting seasonal bed demand and in Length of Stay initiatives. He has played a key role in monitoring system pressures and alerting decision makers to areas of concern, especially during the Covid pandemic.
With a degree from Cambridge University in Economics with statistics options, Andy has a solid background in statistical techniques. He has decades of experience in coding, analysis, modelling, forecasting and machine learning.
Before joining the NHS in September 2018, Andy was the Head of Data Analytics for a large PLC. Prior to that, Andy ran his own Economic Research Consultancy for 16 years, following 5 years in a consultancy in London.
