Since 2003 I have worked within substance misuse and the criminal justice system. I started working for a national charity supporting people on a one-to-one basis accessing treatment programmes. Also, navigating the resettlement process through to establishing mentoring programmes in prisons. This was followed by five years commissioning Drug Intervention Programme services for a North East Local Authority. In 2013 joined NHS England Cumbria and North East leading the development of substance misuse provision across all the prisons in the region. In late 2016 I was asked, alongside Mike Wheatley, to lead the project to pilot a new approach to addiction within prisons.
