Associate Director of Safe Services

David is currently Associate Director of Safe Services at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. His role is to lead the Trust strategically through a portfolio which contributes to the Trust’s delivery of safe services. He has a demonstrable track record and professional interests in strategic approaches to patient safety and quality improvement through leadership, development and change.
He graduated from Keele University with his first degree in Biomedical Sciences and his career since has spanned over 21 years during which time he has been employed in many diverse areas within the NHS, substantially in clinical governance and patient safety roles (including North Staffordshire, Cambridgeshire, Cheshire & Wirral) within primary care, physical health services and mental health.
He graduated as a Master of Science from the University of Chester with a distinction in Professional Studies. His dissertation was on early warning systems to improve patient safety and reduce unwarranted avoidable harm. He is currently studying at The University of Manchester for a PhD in patient safety, with his research aligned to the strategic aims of The NHS Patient Safety Strategy.
