Dr David Hambleton

David is an independent strategic advisor to health systems, with a wealth of NHS experience as a clinician and CEO, having held Board level positions in provider and commissioning organisations. Built on forging strong, multi-agency partnerships, he is an advocate of a new type of system leadership fit for complex health environments.

Together with his drive for empowerment of front-line staff to do what is ‘best for person, best for system’, as a former consultant physician, he has a strong track record in delivering service reconfiguration and genuine transformational change.

He is now a leading expert on system leadership, supporting multiple systems on their integration journey, producing an associated podcasts series and using experience from international exemplars such as Canterbury, NZ and Yale University.

Having brought the clinical pathways system, HealthPathways, to the UK from New Zealand, David is now Managing Director, Pathways Alliance Limited, part of Streamliners NZ, leading the spread of the HealthPathways approach across the UK.
