Dr Liz Mear is Chief Executive of the Innovation Agency, the Academic Health Science Network for the North West Coast. In this role, she supports the health and care sector to adopt innovation and encourages the economic growth of businesses that can support this aim. Liz helped to set up the Innovation Agency when she was Chief Executive of the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust and Chair of the Cheshire and Merseyside Comprehensive Local Research Network. Also, Liz has been a Director in an acute NHS Trust, a mental health NHS foundation trust and an ambulance trust.
Liz is chair of the North West Procurement Development Board, a Director of the Northern Health Science Alliance; Well North, Lancashire and Cumbria Innovation Alliance Test Bed, Health Education Co-operative and sits on the Board of Health Services Research UK. She is co-chair of the NIHR Dissemination Centre Steering Group.
Before joining the NHS Liz worked in local government, holding a variety of senior customer service roles. Liz has also worked as a senior management consultant, specialising in public sector business performance improvement and change management.
