Dr Zahid Chauhan OBE, FRCGP

Dr Chauhan is passionate about improving health, education and social care services by driving innovation, improving efficiency and creating opportunities for local communities. His main areas of expertise are clinical and corporate governance and innovative business development by stakeholder engagement. 

Dr Chauhan is a General Practitioner and received his fellowship from the Royal College of General Practitioners in May 2021. He is currently Chief Executive Officer for Urgent Care Provider BARDOC. 

Dr Chauhan has significant experience of sitting at board level, he has previously been a member of GM Health and Social Care Board, GM Joint Commissioning Board and Chair of the Oldham System Board. He has also served as Non-Executive Director for North-West Ambulance Services trust. 

He served as Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care on Oldham Council from 2018-2022, and is currently serving as the Mayor of Oldham. He has previously served as Chair of MioCare Group. He led the organisation to move an ethical care agenda forward with innovative ways of working. Dr Chauhan was also the Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Cheadle in the 2019 General Election. Dr Chauhan represented United Kingdom on the Committee of Region in European where he was involved in policy making and ensuring Britain’s view is well represented.
