Ed has worked in public sector procurement since 2006. He started his career working in an NHS Trust where he spent 6 years working in procurement and supporting the turnaround team when the Trust was placed in special measures. While in the post, Ed completed a Master’s in Business Strategy and Procurement Management at Birmingham University.
Ed moved to NHS London Procurement Partnership (LPP) working in the Estates and Facilities work stream in 2012. He quickly became responsible for the work stream, expanding its scope to include professional services and various dynamic purchasing systems to LPPs members and other public sector organisations. While at LPP Ed completed a Master’s in Public Procurement Law & Policy at Nottingham University and was awarded FCIPS based on his work on dynamic purchasing systems and SME inclusion.
Ed now works at the Department of Health and Social Care as Deputy Director/ Head of Procurement, responsible for the procurement spend of the Department. His team are responsible for NHS terms and conditions and the CPE portal. He sits as the commercial approver on the ‘Financial Approvals Panel’ who review business cases for the Department and its arms-length bodies. Ed is the SME champion and outsourcing champion for the Department representing health within Cabinet Office.
