As Head of Nursing, Midwifery & AHP Education and Workforce Development at Northumbria Healthcare, Emma has almost 30 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in the NHS. Having worked in a variety of emergency and acute clinical roles, she settled in the field of practice development and education in 2005. With qualifications in teaching, learning and coaching Emma is committed to improving care through high quality education and on-going staff development.
Emma has significant experience of leading and supporting a wide variety of corporate and clinical projects and introduced the role of Nursing Associate to the Trust’s nursing family. Since then, she has worked continuously to create and sustain innovative and collaborative education opportunities for staff, allowing them to build a lifelong career.
Always with her eye on the next innovation, Emma led the development of the new Northumbria Health and Care Academy and is looking forward to all the opportunities that will bring.
Emma is responsible for the strategic direction, leadership and management of the Northumbria, Health and Care Academy and her current portfolio includes, pre-registration education, post registration professional development, advanced and enhanced practice, healthcare support worker development, the trusts professional nurse advocate service and resuscitation service.
Emma maintains her clinical relevance and is an active member of the on-call management team, providing senior leadership to clinical teams around the clock.
