Fay Lane is Senior Estates and Facilities Workforce Manager at NHS England, where she leads the workforce programmes centred on attracting and retaining talented Estates and Facilities professionals. Her expertise covers the creation of skills frameworks, leadership development, and pay and reward structures—all of which are crucial for ensuring the workforce can meet both present and future challenges. With over sixteen years’ experience in education, strategic planning and workforce transformation, Fay is passionate about workforce solutions that equip estates staff with the necessary skills to deliver quality services, while also supporting their individual achievements. She is currently studying toward her MSc in Organisational Development, Fay began her NHS career in 2010, as a Programme Lead at the North East Ambulance Service, overseeing the Trust’s apprenticeship programme. In 2014, she moved to Health Education England as a Contracts Manager and later a Regional Education Manager, where she led financial contract management and ensured compliance for education programmes across the North East and Yorkshire Since stepping into her current role in 2024, Fay has provided specialist capacity-building expertise to help create a fit-for-purpose estates and facilities workforce. She is committed to maximising opportunities for innovative working and addressing key workforce issues, bringing people focused solutions to help ensure the NHS estates and facilities workforce remains skilled, resilient, and prepared for future challenges.
