NHS Business Services Authority – digital transformation programme, developing a future NHS workforce management solution 

The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) is an Arm’s Length Body of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). We provide platforms and services to support the NHS, patients and the public. Our workforce platforms and services support the career pathways of colleagues across health and social care, helping the NHS to support its people. 

The NHSBSA is leading a digital transformation programme to develop a brand-new workforce management solution that will eventually replace the current Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system. The plans support the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan and align with the NHS England People Digital Strategy. The new solution will aim to improve user experience, optimise technology and improve data quality.
