Kate Davies CBE

Director of Health and Justice, Armed Forces and Sexual Assault Services Commissioning
NHS England and NHS Improvement

Kate is the national director for healthcare services across England for Armed Forces serving personnel, veterans and their families; Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs); and prisons, immigration removal centres and secure children’s homes and training centres. Her national role is to assure high quality, consistent and sustained services with a strong focus on health inequalities and outcomes for patients and their families. She is also the NHS England and NHS Improvement lead for cross departmental work in this area and has developed and led the national partnership agreement with the Ministry of Defence, which defines the strategic vision, aims, interactions and governance that allow for mutually supporting work and relationships across health services commissioning for the Armed Forces community.

Kate has developed and led the national partnership agreements with the Ministry of Defence for Armed Forces commissioning, the Ministry of Justice for prisons and the children and young people secure estate and the Home Office for immigration removal centres. The cross departmental partnership agreements focus on core objectives and outcomes across government for key patient areas that can only be delivered in partnership with cross government agreements.

Under her leadership and through this agreement, a new framework of mental health services for the Armed Forces community has been developed, which has resulted in the commissioning of the Veterans’ Mental Health Transition, Intervention and Liaison Service and the Veterans’ Mental Health Complex Treatment Service, as well as the forthcoming Veterans’ Mental Health High Impact Service. Furthermore, she has led the development of the Armed Forces personnel in transition: Integrated Personal Commissioning for Veterans Framework (IPC4V) and the veteran friendly GP practice accreditation and is currently progressing plans to provide increased care and support for Armed Forces families.

Central to this work is the voice of veterans and their families, with lived experience and collaborative working with partners informing commissioning arrangements to help improve health outcomes for the Armed Forces community.

From a health and justice perspective, the partnership agreement has supported the development of the national Liaison & Diversion Programme and Street Triage. Kate has developed and lead and increased provision for survivors of sexual violence including the partnership publication of an NHS Sexual Assault and Assault Strategy in 2018 (SAAS).

Previously, Kate was the Executive Lead for Prison, Detainee and SARCS Healthcare Commissioning for East Midlands, when she led the healthcare commissioning for prison and offender health.

Kate has also worked as the Strategic Director of the award-winning Nottinghamshire County Drug and Alcohol Action Team from December 1995 to May 2009, co-ordinating and delivering the Government’s National Drug Strategy. From 2003 to 2010, Kate was seconded to the University of Central Lancashire, International School for Communities Rights and Inclusion as Director of Black and Ethnic Minority Community Engagement, focussing on the health and social care of diverse groups who experience discrimination and/or disadvantage and directing the national community engagement programme.

Kate has been a Non-Executive Director on the National Treatment Agency Board in England between 2000 and 2013. She was also a member of the Government’s independent Board for the Prison Drug Treatment Strategy Patel Review, which implemented the Substance Treatment Service and Strategy and delivery across England and currently acts as an Ambassador for Diversity in Public Appointments for the Government Public Appointments Commission.

Kate started her career in the Probation service and was a qualified Probation Officer from 1986 to 1995, before joining the NHS.

Kate was awarded an OBE in 2009, for services for disadvantaged communities. In 2018, she was awarded a CBE for her work to improve services for some of the most vulnerable groups and an Honorary Doctor of Staffordshire University in recognition of her commitment to health and social equality.

What our clients say about us

Working with Convenzis is a stress-free and a rewarding experience, with fantastic engagement from a highly targeted and relevant audience

I worked with Convenzis, primarily Dan, for the first time this year, putting together a bespoke online event for IBM. He has always been so responsive and accommodating. The team always remained professional and helpful – despite the many demands from our side! They were very keen for us to maximise on the investment and revisit those attendees who had not committed to follow ups.
It was an absolute pleasure doing business with Convenzis and I know there will be more opportunities next year. Looking forward to it!

IBM

In view of the recent NHS Oncology Conference organised by CONVENZIS which was sponsored by Pascoe Healthcare Ltd, CONVENZIS exhibited professionalism through credible organisation, invitation of delegates/respectable Speakers and general conduct of the entire conference. This has also shown that CONVENZIS is a great partner in business which is fundamental to ROI of partnering Companies even in the wake of the pandemic.
