I am an ACP trainee on the ACP apprenticeship course at the University of the West of England. I graduated as a Physiotherapist in 2004 from Sheffield Hallam University. I have extensive experience working with older age adults in the community; mainly as part of an admissions avoidance team.
Two years ago, I joined the healthcare team at HMP Bristol. Within the team I have taken on the roles of IPC and Safeguarding Champion, as well as supporting the wider ACP team in staff training and education across the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire cluster of prisons.
Within HMP Bristol I take an active role in complex case management; ensuring my patients are assessed and treated in a true holistic and multi-disciplinary manner. I feel being an Allied Health Professional has brought a broadened approach to the healthcare that is delivered at HMP Bristol, especially for the aging prison population.
