Matt Asbrey

Matt has worked in a variety of OD roles in the NHS for the past 7 years and has been the Freedom to Speak Up Guardian at Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) since December 2016. In December 2017, Matt took up the lead role for staff engagement, working in the Communications team alongside his guardian role.

Freedom to speak up has been a key part of the Trust’s ‘Let’s Talk’ staff engagement approach which was launched in 2018 and has seen significant improvements in the care, culture and leadership, achieving an Outstanding rating from CQC in August 2018. The work the Trust has done and continues to do on staff engagement has been recognised both nationally and internationally; winning the HSJ staff engagement award 2019, CIPD People Management Award for Best employee experience initiative 2019, and Best customer and employee engagement programme at the International Engage Awards 2019.
