Michael (Monty) Mythen

Monty is the Smiths Medical professor of anaesthesia and critical care at University College London and a senior investigator at the University College London Hospitals National Institute of Health Research Biomedical Research Centre.

Before returning to the UK, Monty was an assistant professor at Duke University Medical Centre and acting chief of critical care in the department of anesthesiology.

Monty is also founding co-president of the International Board of Perioperative Medicine; Founding Editor of the Journal Perioperative Medicine; a Director of the Perioperative Quality Initiative (POQI); A director of Xtreme-Everest; and chairman of Evidence-Based Perioperative Medicine (EBPOM). Monty was national clinical lead at the UK Department of Health for the enhanced recovery partnership in the English NHS from May 09 – to March 2013.
