Michael Wheatley is a qualified social worker and experienced commissioner and practitioner within Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service. He advises senior prison leaders, and other government departments, on issues which help people overcome addiction and promotes recovery. Michael is currently embedded into HMP Holme House, alongside Dave King, leading on the development of a drug recovery prison programme.
Previously, Michael was a senior manager responsible for commissioning interventions designed to reduce reoffending in High-Security prisons. He has also worked as a community probation officer. He studied social sciences, applied criminology, penology and prison management and has written and presented widely on the subject of drug use in prisons.
