Nicola is a Dietitian and the Allied Health Professions Digital Clinical Lead in NHS Forth Valley, Central Scotland. Nicola’s core areas of interest include the optimisation of digital systems to transform clinical services, the effective use of data to support service delivery, and workforce development to drive a culture of clinical engagement and ownership within digital transformation and clinical informatics.
Nicola completed a master’s degree with Distinction in Digital Health Leadership in 2021 with the NHS Digital Academy and Imperial College London. Nicola’s dissertation evaluated the implementation of an electronic patient record system and mobile device use. She received the Imperial College London Faculty of Medicine Dean's Prize, awarded to the student who achieved the highest overall distinction grade on their master’s course.
Nicola has won several awards relating to her digital work including the NHS Digital Academy Book Award for User Centred Design & Informatics in 2020, the Digital Health Future Digital Leader Award in 2019, the Complete Nutrition Outstanding Achievement Award in 2019, and the British Dietetic Association Dame Barbara Clayton Award for Innovation and Excellence in Dietetic Practice in 2014.
