Peter has a Masters in Philosophy, a Master’s degree in health and social care management, a BSc Honours degree in Occupational Health & Safety and is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (CFIOSH). He has published papers on leadership behaviour, Quality and Safety (Q&S) in the British Journal of Healthcare Management (BJHM 2012 & 2015), American Journal of Public Health (2014). He has written a chapter on Management Culture within the NHS, Patient Safety Culture, Theory Methods & Practice (2014) and contributed to a chapter on Mental Health in Qatar, Challenges and Prospects (2019). This book was the first volume to explore, in breadth and in depth, the field of mental health in Qatar. He has peer-reviewed papers for the British Medical Journal, BJHM, and the British Nursing Journal. Peter was a member on the Board of Editors for the IOSH publication Policy and H&S Practice. Presented and chaired at a number of international patient Q&S conferences in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Oman, European Union of the Society of Preventative Research Slovenia and Weil Cornell College Qatar.
He has been an Executive Committee member of the Qatar Branch of IOSH and the Ex Chair. He has received the Presidents distinguished service award from IOSH in 2018 for services in developing the IOSH strategy. With over 30 years’ experience in the public and private sector including three local authorities, 4 NHS providers and more recently as a Director in the Middle East Healthcare system where he developed appropriate risk based approaches for a new state of the art research centre, women’s and children’s hospital. He is currently the Vice Chair of the IOSH Northwest Health and Social Care Group and works in Betsi Cadwaladre University Health Board (NHS) where he directs OSH and Security services.
