Rachel qualified in 1986 and worked in critical care units both in Leeds and Australia before moving to Airedale as a Nurse Consultant in December 2000. Since 2007, Airedale has been delivering healthcare to offenders via telemedicine and in 2011, the Trust opened its Digital Care Hub supporting patients remotely 24/7 in their own homes.
As part of a joint venture with the technology firm Involve VC, the hub at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust now supports over 20,000 care home residents using telemedicine in 500 homes across the country, delivering virtual clinical assessments and also providing a GP triage function. This clinical NHS nursing and therapy team also support people at the end of their life, via the Gold Line.
Rachel was the clinical lead for the Airedale & Partners vanguard program, working with East Lancashire CCG on the Enhanced Health in Care Homes workstream.
