Richard Evans’ first job in the NHS was as a porter. He was inspired by radiographers at University College Hospital and went on to train at the Middlesex Hospital. He qualified with the DCR as a diagnostic radiographer in 1982. Richard worked in London and became accredited as a Society of Radiographers representative. He went on to specialise in neuro radiography before moving to Salisbury in Wiltshire where he set up the CT scanning and later the MRI scanning services. After a further four years as a General Manager at Poole Hospital, Richard was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer for the Society of Radiographers and the College of Radiographers, a role he has held since 2004.
