Steph is an NHS Speech and Language Therapist specialising in stammering. She has worked for Airedale NHS Foundation Trust since 2007 with many years’ experience of providing speech therapy by video link to people in prison. Steph is passionate about raising awareness of stammering, a serious communication disability which, without the right support, can lead to educational under-attainment/drop-out and an increased risk of criminalisation. She regularly delivers training to teachers in how to support young people who stammer. In 2017, Steph won a Guardian Public Service Award, winning in the Digital and Technology category for Airedale’s teletherapy service to adults who stammer.
