RCGP Secure Environments Group – 9th Health & Justice Summit: Just Health? – Principles and Practice to Promote Health Equity and Inclusion in UK and Global Justice Settings

Just HealthPrinciples and Practice to Promote Health Equity and Inclusion in UK and Global Justice Settings

Health is a fundamental human right. Equity is the absence of unfair, avoidable or remediable differences among groups of people, where groups may be defined socially, economically, demographically, geographically or by other dimensions of inequality (e.g. sex, gender, ethnicity, disability, or sexual orientation). Health equity is achieved when everyone can attain their full potential for health and well-being. (WHO) Inclusion health is a service, research, and policy agenda that aims to prevent and redress health and social inequities among the most vulnerable and excluded populations.

The conference will look at systems and commissioning for fair health in justice settings. It will highlight good practice and identify evidence-based principles of reducing health inequalities in secure settings in the UK and globally. It will review UK policies relating to prisons and prison health, in light of the national agenda for addressing health inequalities. It will consider the impact of compassionate kind leadership and culture in health systems and public organisations and the impact of a healthy resilient trauma-informed workforce on patient care.

At this year’s summit, we will be covering:
• Leadership, Culture and Environment – Healthy leadership, healthy cultures, and healthy communities in secure environments. Trauma-informed care.
• Innovation and research – innovations in healthcare delivery and research submissions, both from within the UK and across the world.
• Workforce and training – growing and retaining a resilient compassionate team.
• Clinical priorities in the health inequality agenda – early cancer diagnosis, long-term conditions, (respiratory, hypertension/CVD), SMI, women’s health and maternity care. Aligning the agenda with the health and care needs of the prison population (mental health that isn’t SMI, substance misuse including changing drug trends in prisons and dependence forming medication, communicable diseases). ACEs as determinants of health.
• Learning lessons and preventing deaths – encouraging a healthy learning culture in which to learn from incidents and inquests. Sharing case studies, issues, actions, changes made in practice.
• Health inequalities in secure care – the global picture

Convenzis Healthcare Event testimonials

What our clients say about us

It was great to join the Convenzis team again for the patient flow event. As always, the team were incredibly accommodating and happy to help. The quality of attendees is always of a high standard and relevant to the patient flow and to us also. We continue to have great discussions and footfall around our stand with no need to try and encourage people to come and see us. Really positive event for us and we look forward to working with Convenzis in the future.

Catalyst BI -

My colleague and I presented at the NHS workforce conference 2023, 19 September. The support and guidance we received from the Convenzis team in the run up to our presentation slot was great, well timed and perfectly pitched. The event itself, again was expertly organised. The conference was well Chaired by Sean, who was very engaging. As an audience member as well as a panel member, I would definitely work with the Convenzis team again.

NHS BSA -

Covenzis delivered an excellent meeting like always - a hubbub of activity focused on future developments within NHS pathology laboratories

Source LDPath -

Working with Convenzis is a stress-free and a rewarding experience, with fantastic engagement from a highly targeted and relevant audience

Zoom

I worked with Convenzis, primarily Dan, for the first time this year, putting together a bespoke online event for IBM. He has always been so responsive and accommodating. The team always remained professional and helpful – despite the many demands from our side! They were very keen for us to maximise on the investment and revisit those attendees who had not committed to follow ups.
It was an absolute pleasure doing business with Convenzis and I know there will be more opportunities next year. Looking forward to it!
