The Royal College of GPs Secure Environments Group in partnership with Convenzis is excited to share news of the first fully Virtual RCGP Health and Justice Summit:

“1st Virtual RCGP Secure Environments Group Summit: Standing together through the pandemic in secure care”

The recent outbreak of COVID-19 has undoubtedly had a huge impact on the world in which we live… and even more so for the people living and working in secure settings.

As the nation continues to respond to the pandemic and as recent experiences help shape the “new normal”, healthcare providers delivering care in secure settings continue to translate, adapt and evolve in order to both protect and meet the needs of our patient population.

Prisons and other secure settings normally provide a unique opportunity to address a wide variety of health needs, such as blood-borne viruses, mental health issues, substance misuse and long-term conditions. However, despite significant constraints, the delivery of high-quality care within secure settings will have continued. We aim to now gather together to share these experiences in order to learn and grow.

This 1st Virtual RCGP Secure Environments Group Summit: aims to capture and explore the wealth of learning from the cutting edge of the response to the pandemic:

– What have we learned and how have teams adapted and innovated to meet the challenges of the pandemic response?

– What preparations are being made for dealing with any future pandemic and how can we continue to work together with this objective?

The vast majority of people in secure settings return to the community and it is recognised that the investment in healthcare provision in these settings contributes to a wider benefit for society as a whole.

The mission of this Virtual Summit is to share models of good practice, innovations in healthcare delivery and advances in treatment so that we can continue to improve and develop what we do.

We are now looking into the future…
